Friday Favorites ~ 7.11.14

Time for another Friday Favorites Link Up! I missed out last week because of the Friday holiday so I have a bunch of things saved up for this week :)
1. Favorite Show - Ladies of London

I'm obsessed. My mum is British (from Scotland) and I spent 1/2 of my childhood over in the UK, so I completely identify with the way of life! I honestly feel deep down that I'm meant to live in the UK, or somewhere in Europe...maybe one day! ;)
Side note: I CAN'T STAND Juliet. Someone teach that chick basic manners already! How many people have to tell her she is being rude before she gets it?

2. Favorite Outfit

This is actually an off-shoot of Ladies of London because it was pulled from Marissa Hermer's facebook page (yes, I follow...did you not hear me? I'm obsessed) haha! Love this look she put together! Especially the jeans, white tee, leather jacket, and wedges.

3. Favorite Beauty Item

Went to Ulta this week and picked up the new Bareskin foundation from Bare Minerals (along with many other things)...keep on the lookout for a haul & review post next week!

4. Favorite Summer Treat

Has anyone tried these before? They are so delicious, come in tons of different flavors (lemon and grapefruit are my faves) and are only 70 calories! The perfect summer treat!

5. Favorite Funnies

Why do most of the funnies I post always seem to be about food? ;)

Friday Favorites ~ 6.13.14

Favorite Moment

Abby had her baby!! She gave birth Wednesday, June 11th at 8:21 pm to an amazingly PERFECT baby girl <3

I could have cried tears of joy - my heart is so full. It was bitter sweet because I wished I could have been there...had I still lived in Akron, I would've been there the entire time and gotten to hold her right away. But I'm counting down the minutes until Saturday, so I can race up there and meet her and give my Sissy the biggest hug!!

Favorite Recipe

Broccoli Cauliflower Bacon Salad

I made this last weekend for a cook-out we had with friends and it was delicious! A couple of you asked me about it, so I thought I would share the recipe since it is so simple and perfect to take to summer get togethers!

Prep Time: 30 minutes

6 servings

Ingredients:

1 head broccoli

1 head cauliflower

1 small onion diced

1 cup frozen corn (I used fresh - 2 ears, cooked it and cut off the cob)

6 slices bacon chopped (I used 8 or 9)

1 cup mayonnaise

1/8 cup sugar

1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

Break up cauliflower and broccoli into tiny flourettes. Finely chop the onion. Cook and chop bacon. Add vegetables and bacon together. Mix dressing and pour over vegetables and bacon and mix.

I added a bit more dressing mixture to mine than listed above - really just add based on your own taste! :)

Friday Favorites ~ 5.30.14

I can't believe it's already time for Friday Favorites again...yay for 4 day work weeks! :)

... Beauty ...

I got my first professional spray tan last week for Michelle's wedding (this chick wasn't going to be the only pasty pale one in pictures! lol). I went to GLOW in Bexley, which is right near downtown Columbus, and I am SO happy with how it turned out! It was airbrushed on by the owner, Jennifer, who was incredibly professional and helpful.

It was a bit awkward at first...I'll be honest. Hi stranger I just met, here are my boobs! But, I wanted the tan to be all over, with as little tan lines as possible. This was my choice, she said some people go all out (completely naked) and some people choose to keep some clothing/underwear items on. She was so professional though, I got over the embarrassment really quickly and it was no big deal! Plus, when researching places I found out she is an RN, so I figure she's seen it all ;)

I followed her before and after care instructions to a T...and it turned out perfectly! It looked great for Michelle's wedding day and has held up really well. It's a week later today and it's just starting to fade. Absolutely worth $40 if you ask me! I will definitely be going to Jennifer again next time I need a good spray tan!

Absolutely love Coldplay, they are one of my (if not my #1) favorite bands. I think they make some of the best music of our generation and I am so excited to get their new CD this weekend. They are one of the only artists I still by physical CDs for instead of downloading! Do you have any artists you do this for??

... Recipe ...

If you can even call this a recipe ;) I will admit I really don't cook very much so this is often the extent of my culinary skills. But it is my favorite lunch and what I eat basically everyday. Spinach salad, with feta cheese, balsamic dressing, and some combo of fruit and nuts.

... Movie ...

Is any one else excited to see this?? I think it looks fantastic! I love that Hollywood has been remaking some of the classic fairy tales in a more "adult" way and portraying the dark side of them, which is more true to the original written stories. And I can't wait to see how Angelina portrays the character - I think she will knock it out of the park. She's a great actress (although I will always be Team Jennifer ;)
