Abby had her baby!! She gave birth Wednesday, June 11th at 8:21 pm to an amazingly PERFECT baby girl <3

I could have cried tears of joy - my heart is so full. It was bitter sweet because I wished I could have been there...had I still lived in Akron, I would've been there the entire time and gotten to hold her right away. But I'm counting down the minutes until Saturday, so I can race up there and meet her and give my Sissy the biggest hug!!

Favorite Recipe

Broccoli Cauliflower Bacon Salad

I made this last weekend for a cook-out we had with friends and it was delicious! A couple of you asked me about it, so I thought I would share the recipe since it is so simple and perfect to take to summer get togethers! 

Prep Time:  30 minutes

6 servings

Ingredients:

1 head broccoli

1 head cauliflower

1 small onion diced

1 cup frozen corn (I used fresh - 2 ears, cooked it and cut off the cob)

6 slices bacon chopped (I used 8 or 9)

1 cup mayonnaise

1/8 cup sugar

1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

Break up cauliflower and broccoli into tiny flourettes. Finely chop the onion. Cook and chop bacon. Add vegetables and bacon together. Mix dressing and pour over vegetables and bacon and mix.

I added a bit more dressing mixture to mine than listed above - really just add based on your own taste! :)

Weekending ~ June 7

One of these days I am going to get better at posting weekend updates...aka posting before Wednesday of the following week ;)

This weekend was a fun one! But it was so jam-packed, I felt like I didn't really have any time to relax. I thought I might be able to catch up on sleep this coming weekend... but I got the text at 4:00 am this morning that Abby is in labor! So this weekend will be spent up in Akron seeing my new baby niece :)) I'm BEYOND excited!! Living 2 hours away from everyone doesn't bother me on a day-to-day basis...but it's times like this where it makes me sad that I can't be there right now while she's in the hospital :(

Anywhoo...here's a quick photo dump from this past weekend...

Broccoli Cauliflower Bacon Salad I made for a cook-out we went to on Saturday. This is one of my mum's recipes and I always used to love it growing up. Only change I made...double the amount of bacon she used to use ;)

Picked up this maxi dress from Old Navy off the clearance rack for $19! They only had one left and it was an xs - perfect! It was meant to be ;)

And excuse the ridiculous mirror situation...we don't have anywhere to hang a full length mirror in our master bedroom - thanks to vaulted attic ceilings...so I have to work with what I've got.

 Loved spending time with our fabulous friends at the cook-out on Saturday! Delicious food, lots of drinks, and great company! We have lots of fun things planned for this summer, which our friend Lisa has dubbed "The Summer of Fun"! 

Sunday morning was spent at Aaron's baseball game. It was their first loss of the season, but they played pretty well - the team they were up against was just tough! The field was really nice though, almost minor league status, and I know all the guys enjoyed playing on it.

And this little miss decided to use Michael Kors as a pillow while I was getting ready the other day...why do cats always do this right before you need to get up?

Happy Friday all! The first 5 day week after having a long weekend always feel like it drags on forever, doesn't it?? I so happy it's finally the weekend though, and since it's our first full weekend at home in awhile, I have a long list of things to get done!

Guilty Pleasures

While making my way through my Bloglovin' feed this morning, I read Christa's post and was inspired to make a Guilty Pleasures list of my own!

1. "Girly" TV

Sometimes also referred to as "Trash TV". It's hard to watch when Aaron's around because he hates it so much, but when I have the house to myself I indulge in whatever I can find on Bravo or E!...Real Housewives, Total Divas, Marriage Bootcamp Reality Stars, Eric and Jessie: Game On (love them BTW!), etc etc. And if there isn't anything relatively new on, good old classic SATC will work just fine!

2. British Chocolate

I'm sorry - it's just better. I don't like Hershey's and the like...but Cadbury's...I'll eat that shiz any day. Basically any candy item they make is fair game.

 3. Online Shopping

Duh. No explanation needed ;)

  
4. PJ Pants

You can never have enough pairs of super soft & stretchy PJ pants. I am a sucker for them, even if I already have 10 pairs in my dresser at home. Bonus points if they hold up their super softness after a dozen runs through the wash :)

5. Instagram

Hands down my favorite app and social media outlet. I never got into Twitter or Pinterest, but I can get lost for ages looking at pictures on Instagram. (Find me - @emiliestorey)

6. Laid Back Beach Radio

My favorite Pandora station...soo relaxing and just happy. I play it all day at work and it makes me realize I was meant to live in Hawaii, or somewhere of the like...a la Blue Crush ;)


Well, that's all I can think of right now without diving deeper into the Food Category ;)

Weekending

Happy Monday ladies! Hope you all had nice, relaxing weekends :) Linking up with one of my favorite bloggers...Biana {B Loved Boston} for the first edition of "Weekending"! 

I had a great time this weekend...Aaron and I traveled up to northern Ohio {for the second weekend in a row} to celebrate our anniversary. It's technically tomorrow, June 3rd...but I bought him Cleveland Indians tickets for Saturday's game, so we celebrated early!

 

The game was so much fun! I love baseball and it had been ages since I'd been to a major league game. It was beautiful weather...just a bit hot - I'm lucky I didn't get sunburned. I was able to buy a {tiny} bottle of sunscreen once we got there, thank goodness! Although it was $4 for like 1 oz. - talk about a rip off.

The Indians won {yay!} and we head to Akron to spend time with our best friends Abby and Zack - who's first baby is due any day now!! Oh - and I remembered to snap some pictures of the 3 canvases I made her for her baby shower gift {that I forgot to take pictures of when I told you all about it a few weeks ago} They haven't had a change to hang them yet, but they will go right over the crib in the nursery. Sorry for the crappy picture quality - I only had my phone to take pictures with.

We drove back to Columbus early on Sunday because Aaron had a baseball game to play in. It was a baseball-filled weekend! It was a really good game, with more nice weather... and their team ended up winning 18-1.

We ended the weekend with Game of Thrones...which if any of you watch - holy cow what a shocking episode! Although, I shouldn't really be shocked by anything that happens on that show anymore!
