engagement photos // take 2

You may remember that Aaron and I were supposed to get our engagement photos back in the winter. I did a post about some outfit ideas I had pulled together...but the beginning of this year was freakishly warm and we didn't get any snow! Totally crazy for Ohio, and I would have appreciated it any other year...BUT it completely ruined my plan for Winter Wonderland engagement photos.

I contacted our photographer and pushed the photo session back into the spring (now in mid-May) so that the scenery would be pretty outside ;) Needless to say, I now need to re-think all of my outfit choices since the photos will be completely different than originally planned.

I have a custom flower crown from Etsy (missstevemarie to be exact) that I would like to wear for some of the pictures with a long bohemian-style dress. I'll then probably change into a more casual outfit - maybe jeans and a cute blouse or a chambray top...that's still to be decided!

**This would be worn over a cami maxi dress of course

Any suggestions of stores or websites I should look at for this style of dress?? xx

engagment photos - outfit planning

Our engagement photos have been booked for the end of January, and I've recently started putting together my outfits for them. The photographer allows 2-3 outfit changes, so even though I only planned on two (one casual, one dressy)...I planned three just in case I felt like using the last one on the day of the shoot.

I had originally thought I wanted to do the engagement pictures in the fall, but once I had seen a couple shoots done in the snow, I changed my mind ;)

Outfit #1 - Casual

Henley from H&M
Cardigan from Abercrombie & Fitch
Jeggings from Old Navy
Booties from Target
Earrings from Express

Outfit #2 - Dressy

 Tulle Maxi Skirt from Etsy
White Sweater from Target
Earrings from Express
Winter Flower Crown - Homemade (my project over Christmas break!)

Outfit #3 - Backup if needed

 Jeggings from Old Navy
Coat from Old Navy
Booties from Target
Blanket Scarf from Target

I'm so excited to get these pictures taken! But also a little nervous, as we've never really been the main focus in front of a camera before lol - any tips from you married ladies out there who have done these photo sessions before??
Can't wait to share all the pictures with you! xx

the best anniversary yet

Taking a break from the typical Friday posts to share some special news...

Many of you may have seen on my Instagram already, but Aaron proposed on our anniversary this Wednesday! It was a complete surprise and so romantic and perfect!

Our 4 year anniversary was Wednesday, June 3rd and I thought Aaron was going to be home super late because he was out of state traveling for work...so I took off Thursday so we could celebrate our anniversary then. I had work and school, like always, but when I pulled up to the house at 9:30 after getting home from class, I saw hundred of candles lining our front porch...

As I walked into the house, there were candles and white roses everywhere...and Aaron on bended knee :) I'll keep his speech to myself, but let's just say we were both in tears (and it had me close to sobbing haha!)

My heart is bursting with happiness and I am so beyond excited to marry my best friend!

He customized the ring himself and it is just perfect...

Needless to say, this has been the best anniversary yet...and one of the best days of my life! Planning won't start for a while because I need to finish school...doing both on top of working would just be too much - so we are just enjoying being engaged now! I'm excited to share the planning with all of you once it begins though! xx
